Tokyo – Koda Kumi concert!!

1st – 2nd December

Well I think this is now definitely our last time to Tokyo – for this year anyway! The main reason we went to Tokyo this time was to see Koda Kumi – one of the most famous pop singers in Japan! Tina and I caught the bus to Tokyo which took a good 9 hours but it was overnight and a comfortable bus so we slept reasonably well. We met up with Marie, Shinya and Steve who had arrived the night before and we spent the morning shopping in the Shinjuku area. We then got ready for the concert as it was to start at 6pm and headed to Tokyo Dome. Next to Tokyo Dome there is Tokyo Dome city where there is a huge roller coaster that goes through the shopping centre. Of course Tina and Marie had to go on it and they also convinced Shinya to go on it too!! Steve and I were just happy to watch!

The crazy roller coaster

and going through the building . . .

So we then lined up to get t-shirts and entered the concert. The concert was amazing and it lasted for over 3 hours!! I think the opening scene was my favourite as there was a huge tank on the stage and she was swimming in it like a mermaid. She then hopped out and began to sing! She sang many songs – I knew only a few and she had dancers and other guest stars appear. I have never been to a concert like this – she would talk to the audience and made fun of herself by showing a video that showed her kneeing herself in the eye in a dance routine! It was a great experience and I am so glad I went – thanks Steve!!

The next day we went to a place we hadn’t been before which consisted of many streets which were lined with shops. We had a look around and then for lunch we happened to find a Thai restaurant! I love Pud Thai and have not eaten it all year so it was so good to finally have it! We then headed to Yoyogi-koen which is a huge park in the middle of Tokyo where people go to hang out, practice dance, play sports and much more! It was so different to last time we came as last time it was summer and everything was so green but as it was so hot there weren’t that many people around. But this time considering it was the second day of winter it was a beautiful day and there were so many people enjoying the weather and using the park to its full potential! There were also many trees with beautiful autumn colours.

Really nice Pud Thai

There were jugglers and a guy with a crystal ball - he had amazing moves.

There were also a lot of people dancing - I liked watching these guys they weren't particularly good but they were real groovers!

These guys were dancing around looking like they were out of the movie Grease!

His tattoo is amazing!

This is one of the guys cars - how cool!

People in their costumes in Harajuku

I wasn't game enough to get a free hug from this guy!

Once again I had a fantastic time in Tokyo and love the bustle of the big city but it is always so nice to come home to Himeji ☺ .
