Nabe Party and Cooking lessons!!!

4th and 5th December

Makoto and Kyosuke wanted to cook dinner for us and they decided that we should experience a Nabe Party! Nabe is a Japanese dish which has a soup stock base which you then add vegetables, meat, seafood, dumplings and noodles to. It was really delicious and after everyone had eaten the Nabe then rice and egg is cooked in the stock that is left over. I really enjoyed the idea of a Nabe party - good friends sharing good food!

We are also lucky enough to know Yoko who has taught us a few Japanese recipes. So last night we went to the supermarket with her and found the correct ingredients to make Omurisu (an omelette filled with rice and other yum things!). Yoko taught us how to make a basic Omurisu and it was a simple recipe but the technique to flip the omelette without destroying it was very difficult! I left that up to Tina and Yoko! Our Omurisu had chicken and onion in the rice and the secret ingredient - tomato sauce! I will definitely be making this at home as it is so yum and easy!

Nabe was delicious! Makoto and Kyosuke did a good job.

Omerisu was fun too. It's pretty easy apart from the flipping!
