Lake Biwa and Hikone

April 2007
We had a public holiday today so Marie, Tina and I decided to go to Lake Biwa and Hikone which is about 2 hours by train from Himeji. Lake Biwa is the biggest lake in Japan and the Hikone castle is one of the few remaining original castles in Japan. It was a beautiful day and was about 26 degrees! We wandered around the castle and the town which has old style Japanese houses and shops and then we headed to the lake. It was so good to put our feet in the water and walk along the lake, it almost felt like summer!

Hikone with old style Japanese houses now used as shops and restaurants.

Me and a snow cone! It was delicious!

I loved Lake Biwa. We had the best weather for it and it was so nice to be able to paddle our feet in the water!
