Kyoto with Mum! Then up to Mt Rokko!

29th September

Mum and I went to Kyoto for a day trip and decided we had to go somewhere that I hadn’t been before! So firstly we went to Toji temple which has the highest 5 storey pagoda in Japan! We were able to go into 3 different temples, all which had amazing statues inside.

The Pagoda

Toji Temple

The temples at Toji range from 650 – 400 years old and in case of fire this is what is in place …
(I'm sure there must be other systems in place!)

It was then off to Kinkakuji – the Golden Pavillion which is the best place in Kyoto – well I think so anyway! Mum thought it was all amazing too!

We then went to Kobe to meet Marie, Tom, Kathy and Shinya. We went to Mt Rokko (which is one place I have had on my list of places to visit) and went in two cable cars to get to the top of the mountain. I have never seen such a steep slope for a cable car/train to travel up! The view from the top was amazing though and the photos just don’t do it any justice! It was a cool night and it was a lot cooler up on Mt Rokko so we had a look at the lights and then headed back down in search of dinner and warmth.

Everything was lit up and looked so beautiful!

Even the footpath was glowing in the dark!

The cable car that almost just went straight up the mountain!

The great view!

It was a great night and Mum got to see two amazing places in the one day!
