18th - 20th July
At the start of the summer holidays there was a 3 day weekend so a group of us headed north 3 hours to a beautiful beach for some camping. We arrived on the Saturday and spent the day at the beach near our campsite. At night we walked to another beach near the city where we went to the onsen (public bath) which was so good as there was an outdoor bath and you could see the beach and there were fireworks!
The view from the train - everything was so green!
The beach right where we camped

On Sunday we hiked to a nearby snorkeling beach where the water was so clear and we could see all sorts of fish and we saw a beautiful starfish too! We then went back to the beach near the city for lunch and as we entered one of the restaurants on the beach crazy torrential rain started! So we spent the afternoon in the restaurant eating and drinking - not so bad! We were dreading thought what our tents back at the campsite might be like but we were surprised to find them only slightly wet.

Crazy rain
And more rain which created a river on the beach!

On the last day the weather fined up again and we spent the day relaxing at the beach before heading home.

Every town has a special manhole cover design and Takeno had the beach and a ship
It was a great mini holiday and I was excited to find another beautiful beach in Japan!
